The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot mop that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that vacuum and mop that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
